Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane admits he is surprised by his players' humility and maturity, following their recent achievements that saw them crowned African Champions, for the first time.

The Chloorkop-based outfit clinched an impressive R20 million prize money for their efforts - which is set to shared between the players.

Following this achievement the 2015-16 Premiership winners have turned their attentions back to their league campaign where the most recently defeated an in-form Golden Arrows 3-0 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday.

"If you're not going to be motivated as a player at Sundowns at this point in time, I don't know," Mosimane told KickOff.

"They also got good bonuses also from CAF. They're happy. I am happy that after the bonuses they can still play.

"I thought they would be all over the place but they are showing leadership and they are showing that they are matured," he added.

The Brazilians' domination in Africa also saw Keagan Dolly, Hlompho Kekana, Denis Onyango and Khama Billiat being shortlisted for the CAF Awards, in addition to captain Kekana being nominated for the Puskas award by FIFA.

"It's nice, they dominated the PSL awards. They were sweeping there.

"They kept the same momentum for CAF, that's why there are four [Sundowns players] there. Rainford Kalaba is also there. I like Rainford a lot. We have a good relationship but at this point in time I wish my boys luck.

"It will be nice to have a South African win the award. No South African has won that award. People must vote for Kekana. No African has won that award," he concluded.

Sundowns next face newly promoted Highlands Park at Loftus Versveld Stadium on Sunday with Mosimane looking at his men to continue their steady rise up the PSL standings.

Kick off is at 15:30.
