Pitso confirms Manyama interest

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has confirmed he is interested in signing Cape Town City captain Lebogang Manyama at the end of the season.

Manyama has been integral to the Citizens' success in their debut campaign in the Premiership; leading Eric Tinkler's side to the Telkom Knock Out title, while they are currently very much in the title race, at the top of the standings.

His dominant performances as the leading play-maker has seen the CAF African Coach of the Year, short-list the South Africa international as perfect replacement for Keagan Dolly - who joined Montpellier in January.

"It would be nice to have him at Sundowns. But for now, he still belongs to another club," he told reporters at the PSL headquarters. "When Sundowns wants a player, we go out there to get that player.

"The only time we don't get a player is when that player costs R10 million, which is equivalent to the PSL title prize money.

"It took us two years to sign a player like Sibusiso Vilakazi (from Wits). I don't think I want to go through that again," Mosimane added. "It's tiring. But both sides must sit down together (and agree on terms).

"I know that Eric (Tinkler) won't be happy losing one of his valuable players. John Comitis won't also be happy (either). But you never know, we'll have to wait and see."

Masandawana next face a tricky trip to the FNB Stadium to face Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs in a crunch encounter that will go a long way in deciding the league title.

The match gets underway at 20:15.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
