Cape Town - Orlando Pirates administrative manager Floyd Mbele has made it clear that new coach Josef Zinnbauer's job is to win trophies.
The Buccaneers have endured a five-year dry spell, having last won a major competition in 2014 when Vladimir Vermezovic led them to the Nedbank Cup.
Now the pressure is on Zinnbauer to turn the club's fortunes around as soon as possible, and Mbele reckons he already has the players to do so.
"At a big club like Orlando Pirates the mandate is always the same. You don't have to explain the mandate. You need to come to win trophies. That’s what the club is about," said Mbele, according to IOL.
On the squad itself, Mbele added: "We will look to that [transfer business].
"Let us give the new coach an opportunity to settle and then we will discuss which players he wants to keep. But with the squad that we have, pound for pound we can compete on all fronts."
Zinnbauer's first test will be at home against Black Leopards in the Absa Premiership on December 21, a game Pirates will be expected to win.
Kick-off is at 15:30.
