Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates salvaged a point at Maritzburg United on Saturday after
coming back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 in the Absa Premiership.
The Team of Choice opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Evans
Rusike did great work on the left flank before cutting it back across
for Mondli Cele to direct home.
The hosts were two goals clear in the 32nd minute. Rusike got the ball
in a dangerous position and showed some great control before dinking
his finish over Brighton Mhlongo.
Only four minutes later the home side were 3-0 ahead as Brian Onyango
hit the back of the net with a simple finish after a terrific cross from
the left by Deolin Mekoa.
Bucs got themselves back into the game with a goal in the 37th minute.
A poor clearance fell for Thabo Rakhale who sent a stunning volley into
the back of Tawfeeq Salie's net.
The gap was closed to a single goal in the 53rd minute when a mistake
from Thamsanqa Teyise resulted in a loose ball falling for Thabo Matlaba
who smashed it home with aplomb.
Bucs continued to push for the equaliser and were finally rewarded in
the 80th minute as Kermit Erasmus pounced on a loose ball and fired home
from close range after United failed to clear their lines.
