Pirates new coach settling in well

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates media officer Thandi Merafe has confirmed that new coach Kjell Jonevret is settling in well at Mayfair, and is getting his philosophy across to the players.

Jonevret, who has signed a three-year deal with the club, recently took over from interim coach Augusto Palacios, with the Sea Robbers looking to turn around a below-par season.

"The coach has been at training with the players and he's getting used to everyone. Obviously, it's been a couple of days, so there won’t be many changes," Merafe told Soccer Laduma.

"What you can see is that the guys are fighting and are pulling up their socks.

"There's been improvement since the game against Wits, and Wits is one of the top teams that are targeting number one, to the draw against Cape Town City that was number one at the time. It shows that the guys are fighting."

The Swede's first game in charge will be against Polokwane City at Orlando Stadium.

Saturday's action gets underway from 15:30 in Johannesburg.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
