Pirates going back to drawing board - Sandilands

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands says the club have to use the FIFA international break to iron out mistakes and fix deficiencies in their play.

Pirates are still in the Premiership league race though they trail log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by three points.

Yet, with the Sea Robbers bowing out of the CAF Champions League while Sundowns are still in the competition - Bucs could gain an advantage when it comes to conditioning levels.

As such, the veteran shot-stopper takes the view that a good run during the final stretch of the season could make all the difference.

Pirates are next in line to face Black Leopards at the Orlando Stadium next Friday. The kick-off in the contest is at 20:15.

He told the KickOff website: "We've got to minimise the errors we're making and try and be a bit more clinical (in front of goal).

"So, basically, we've just got to improve.

"We've got a lot of stuff to improve on, we've got to look to be a bit better in each game and hopefully we can just go on a run, like gaining momentum.

"I think that's what it's going to boil down to, the team that gathers momentum now in these last games is obviously going to put themselves in a good position.

"Maybe during the FIFA break we can get back to the drawing board, as they say, and just make that final push for the league (afterwards)."
