Cape Town - There were more league woes for Orlando Pirates on Saturday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Platinum Stars in Soweto.
The result sees Eric Tinkler's Buccaneers stay in 13th place on the PSL log with just 12 points from 11 games.
Pirates had taken the lead in the 34th minute through a side-footed finish from Issa Sarr, but Stars hit back straight after half time with a Ndumiso Mabena header from a free kick.
Despite having most of the ball in the second half Pirates could not get the lead back.
There was a red card for Stars captain Vuyo Mere, who received a second yellow card in the 75th minute.
That gave Pirates even more control as the game drew to a close, but 1-1 is how it would stay.
The Soweto giants are in league action again on Wednesday night when they host Tuks at Orlando Stadium.
