Pirates, Chippa target first Absa Premiership win

Cape Town - Chippa United and Orlando Pirates will hope to record their first win of the season when they meet in an Absa Premiership clash at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

Chippa started the campaign with a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Bloemfontein Celtic, whereas the Buccaneers dropped two points in a 1-1 draw at home against newly-promoted Highlands Park.

Nonetheless, it could be the Sea Robbers who have more confidence going into the clash as they have beaten the Chilli Boys six times in the last seven matches.

With that said, Pirates away form in 2017/18 season was not as convincing and coach Milutin Sredojevic's men will no doubt be eager for improvement in the Windy City.

Pirates last suffered a defeat against the Chilli Boys in 2016 with Buyani Sali and Joseph Malongoane getting the decisive strikes against the Soweto giants.

In team news, both sides will likely be largely unchanged although there could be question-marks about whether Wayne Sandilands starts in goal for the visitors.

The veteran goalkeeper produced a poor individual error in the 1-1 draw with Highlands, which led to Gladwin Shitolo's own goal.

Meanwhile, Brilliant Khuzwayo remains out with injury.

Kick-off is at 19:30 on Wednesday evening.
