Cape Town - Orlando Pirates have announced the signing of Bidvest Wits midfielder Xola Mlambo subject to a medical.
The Soweto giants said in a statement: Orlando Pirates Football Club is delighted to announce that it has reached an agreement with Bidvest Wits for the signing of midfielder Xolani Mlambo. The deal is subject to a medical.
'Ten Ten', as the 26-year old is known, will be a valuable addition to the Buccaneers midfield.
The Mighty Buccaneers are expected to make further announcements as the club looks to bolster the squad as the Absa Premiership season enters its final stretch.
Transfer deadline is on January 31, 2018.
Recent speculation has linked Abbubakar Mobara with the Students, in a swap deal involving Mlambo, but Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic rubbished this.
According to the SowetanLive website, Mobara was subject to speculation in this window as Wits coach Gavin Hunt looked for a utility player as they try to climb out of the relegation dogfight.
"Mobara is deputy captain in the team and he's important for us," was all Sredojevic told the publication when quizzed about the rumours.
Now that Pirates have captured their man it's yet to be seen if Mobara will head in the other direction before the end of the transfer window.
