Paulse: We need to improve

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town striker Nathan Paulse has called upon his side to improve following their opening day 1-1 draw with Baroka FC.

Paulse who scored the Urban Warriors opening goal from the penalty spot, bemoaned the lack of precision in front of goal and feels they should have buried the newly prompted Premiership side in the opening minutes of the game.

"We started the game very well. The first 20 minutes we were in complete control, we could've scored two or three goals early on," he told the club's website.

"We scored a vital goal, but we didn't follow through with our performance after the opening 20 minutes.

"They took control of the game eventually and created a few chances of their own until later on in the match."

Early into the second half Richard Matloga found the home side an equaliser and, while Paulse admits it was a fair result on the balance of play, the striker says their experience in the top-flight should have been enough to secure the win.

"Playing against the new boys will always be difficult because they play without fear. We weren't able to capitalise at the end of the day, so it feels like two points lost for us," he added.

"We'll work on things in the coming weeks, because it's a while until we play again. With a bit more work we'll be able to gel better and give an improved performance in our next match."
