Parker ruled out for Chiefs

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs will be without their Premiership top scorer, Bernard Parker, on Saturday against Chippa United due to suspension.

The 31-year-old picked up a yellow card in the 2-0 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic and is now banned for the league clash against the Chilli Boys.

Parker, who is tied as Bafana Bafana's third all time highest scorer with 23 goals, picked up the yellow as he was being substituted despite the Glamour Boys enjoying a two goal lead.

It was an unfortunate end to the game for the veteran who was playing his 200th match for Chiefs in Bloemfontein. As such, it appears the forward's absence could provide an opportunity for in form Venezuelan Gustavo Paez to make his mark.

Paez has banged in four goals in all competitions and is now tied with Lorenzo Gordinho and Willard Katsande as the club's highest scorer. With the goals flying in for the 26-year-old and Parker suspended, it seems likely he will get the nod against Chippa.

Saturday's PSL encounter takes place at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

The action gets underway from 18:00 in Mpumalanga.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
