Out of favour Chiefs star linked to Maritzburg move

Cape Town - Maritzburg United are reportedly closing in on securing the loan signing of Kaizer Chiefs winger William Twala, who has fallen out of favour at Naturena.

The Team of Choice are said to be chasing one more attacking signing before the January transfer window closes, and it seems Twala is their preferred target.

The 27-year-old has made just six Absa Premiership appearances in 2017/18 and failed to start a single game for the Glamour Boys.

As such, it appears he is not in Chiefs coach Steve Komphela's plans going forward.

With Twala's deal expiring at the end of the season, Soccer Laduma have reported that Amakhosi are willing to let him go out on loan to Maritzburg to see out the remainder of his contract.

With the Soweto giants having signed the likes of Leonardo Castro, Kabelo Mahlasela and Siphelele Ntshangase, it seems Twala's hopes of further playing time at the club are likely not expected to be high.

United are enjoying a good season under coach Fadlu Davids and currently sit sixth in the standings.

The acquisition of Twala could bolster their ranks and help them push on in their quest for a top-eight finish.
