Cape Town - Attacking midfielder Oupa Manyisa is grateful to have won the Absa Premiership title with Mamelodi Sundowns in his first year playing for the club.
Manyisa, who made a shock move from Orlando Pirates to Sundowns before the start of the 2017/18 season, said the Brazilians had to dig deep to walk away with the championship.
The Brazilians won the PSL title with a game to spare, but had to wait for the final day of the season to be handed their trophy.
Manyisa said he was told not to put himself under pressure in trying to settle in the star-studded Sundowns side after arriving from Pirates and it worked out well for him.
The 29-year-old made 33 appearances in all competitions in his first season with Pitso Mosimane's side.
Sundowns will now switch their attention to Wednesday's high-profile international friendly match with Barcelona before the trip to Guinea for the CAF Champions League.
"It feels great to be a champion. We worked hard this season and we deserved something," Manyisa told SuperSport TV.
"Yeah, when I came here, they told me that I must not put myself under pressure and just play football because they know what I’m capable of. That’s what I did.
"The work continues, but today we are going to celebrate and have fun with my team-mates."
