Cape Town - Orlando Pirates have snapped up Zambian striker Augustine Mulenga from Zanaco FC on a three year deal, the club announced.

The 28-year-old attacker who can play across the forward line as an out-and-out striker or winger is the reigning Zambian Footballer of the Year.

A club statement said: Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of reigning Zambian Footballer of the Year Augustine Mulenga from Zanaco FC on a three year deal.

Speaking about the transfer, Club administrative officer Floyd Mbele said: "We are delighted to have finally secured the services of Augustine. He is an accomplished player who has all the qualities to make an immediate impact at the club.

"I would like to thank Zanaco management for their professionalism during negotiations."

Mulenga is expected to touch down in South Africa next week following his participation in the 2018 CHAN tournament in Morocco where he was Zambia's top goal scorer in the competition.

Chipolopolo were knocked out in the quarter-finals of the competition by Sudan this past weekend.

The club recently added Bidvest Wits midfielder Xola Mlambo to it's ranks with the 26-year-old adding to a formidable looking side as the Absa Premiership season enters its final stretch.

Pirates next face relegation threatened Ajax Cape Town in a league clash at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday evening with the Soweto Giants looking to keep pace-setters Mamelodi Sundowns in its sights.
