Orlando Pirates set to snap up Bongani Sam

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates have reportedly secured the signature of Bloemfontein Celtic defender Bongani Sam with the announcement said to be imminent.

Sam enjoyed a superb season with Celtic and is regarded as one of South Africa's rising talents in the left-back position.

He made 21 appearances in 2018/19 for Siwelele and appears to have a bright future with the Sea Robbers if the deal goes through as expected.

According to reports, the 21-year-old will be unveiled in the near future along with Maritzburg United stars Fortune Makaringe and Siphelele Ndlovu.

It seems Sam was also on the radar of Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.

Celtic Chief Executive Officer Khumbulani Konco confirmed to KickOff that the defender was leaving the club.

He said: "He is leaving. The club that he has signed for will make the announcement."
