Orlando Pirates confirms release of defender

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates have confirmed that they have agreed to release defender Phetso Maphanga from his contract.

The 25-year-old Maphanga joined the Buccaneers from Chippa United in 2018 but only made one appearance for the club.

He was loaned back to the Chilli Boys at the end of last season and the Sea Robbers on Thursday posted on their social media accounts that Maphanga is a free agent and can join any club of his choice.

"The player requested to be released from his contract and the Club has agreed to his request. The Club would like to wish Maphanga the best of luck in the future." Orlando Pirates tweeted.

Pirates start their Premiership campaign at home against Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday.
