Orlando Pirate set date for pre-season

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates players are set to report back for duty on Thursday, June 20 to begin pre-season preparations for the 2019/20 campaign.

This means Pirates' players will have just over three weeks holiday remaining before they begin conditioning training to prepare for the new Premiership season.

The Sea Robbers will have plenty of motivation to return to action as they enjoyed a good season by finishing second in the league.

In addition, Bucs were unfortunate to lose the Telkom Knockout final to Baroka and coach Milutin Sredojevic's men also reached the group stages of the CAF Champions League.

From their 30 Premiership games, Pirates won 15, drew 12 and lost three matches but were pipped to first place by African giants Mamelodi Sundowns.

Nonetheless, a source told Soccer Laduma that players will report back towards the end of June but some may come back early to put in extra pre-season training.

The source told the publication: "The players have been told to return on the 20th (of June).

"But some guys from places outside of Jo'burg may decide to return from as early as the 14th in order to get themselves ready for next season ahead of time."
