Onyango signs contract extension with Mamelodi Sundowns

Cape Town - Denis Onyango has signed a contract extension with Mamelodi Sundowns, the goalkeeper signing on for another four and half years with the defending league champions.

The 33-year-old Onyango joined Masandawana in 2011 and with this contract extension he will have spent more than decade at the Tshwane-based team.

The Ugandan shot-stopper was named in the Confederation of African Football’s Best XI last season, where he was the only African based player in the star-studded team that included Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Onyango has worked his way up to become the Sundowns' undisputed No. 1, winning three league titles and the CAF Champions League title in 2016 as well as the CAF Super Cup the following year.

He is hoping to add to his collection of medals this season as Sundowns are among the frontrunner's in the PSL title race and are also still involved in the Caf Champions League.

Masandawana are next in action on Wednesday when they host Cape Town City in a PSL clash where a victory for the men in yellow could take them to the summit of the table.
