Onyango: I am happy for this award

Cape Town - Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Dennis Onyango won the Coach and Player of the Month for April.

Davids received the accolade for the first time in his coaching career, which came shortly after taking over Roger de Sa on an interim basis for the second time this season.

“It has always been a team effort. I could not have done it on my own”, he said.

Davids recently broke the club’s record of number of games won back to back by winning three games consecutively. He said they achieved that as a team.

Onyango was also awarded for his six clean sheets last month as he helped Sundowns to put pressure on log leaders Bidvest Wits.

“I am happy for this award. It is a recognition for the work I have put in,” said Onyango.

Mxolisi Kunene’s goal against Kaizer Chiefs in March was named the Goal of the Month.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
