Cape Town - Cape Town City coach Jan Olde Riekerink believes his side were full merit for their 2-0 victory over Bidvest Wits at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday evening.

Kermit Erasmus and Craig Martin got themselves on the scoresheet to lift the Citizens to 12th in the table.

Olde Riekerink picked up his second win since taking the reins and the Dutch mentor believes his side deserved the three points.

“We dominated our opponents and deserved to win,” Olde Riekerink told IOL.

“We created chances and that’s how I want my players to play. They played well after we regrouped. We dealt with the space, we dealt with the ball and we combined well. That’s what we’re about.

"Yes, it was windy but the ball is on the ground, it has less effect on the ball. We spoke about this before the game and did what we wanted to do.”

City next face Black Leopards at Cape Town Stadium on Friday.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
