Ofori unfazed by Goalkeeper of the Season talk

Maritzburg United goalkeeper Richard Ofori has made it clear he is more interested in the team's success than in individual honours.

The Ghana international has helped the Team of Choice turn into one of the best defences in the Absa Premiership, conceding only 17 goals in 24 league outings.

Ofori has been touted as one of the front runners to win the Goalkeeper of the Season award and has also attracted the interest of Orlando Pirates, but he remains focused on the team's targets instead.

"I don't think about goalkeeper of the season, I just think about the team, doing well in the league," Ofori was quoted as saying by Far Post.

"Because at the end of the day we are playing for this crest, which is Maritzburg United. Before individual awards, the most important thing is that the team is doing well. Anything else will come later. I don't think about the best goalkeeper (award), I just do my best.

"As a goalkeeper, you need to always aim for clean sheets because then the possibility of your team winning a game is like 70%.

"I always say this league (PSL) is one of the best for goalkeepers. You'll see goalkeepers who are either second choice or first choice for his country. That lets everyone in the world know that this league has quality."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
