Cape Town - Tactician Wedson Nyirenda has confirmed his resignation from his role as Baroka head coach after a string of poor results.

Baroka have won just three of their 15 matches played this season and are sitting precariously in 14th position just above the relegation zone.

Nyirenda hinted he would part ways with Baroka after the 1-0 defeat to Stellenbosch FC on Saturday, suggesting he was being sabotaged at the club.

And the Zimbabwean, who won plenty of silverware in his time as a player with Kaizer Chiefs, has put an end to the uncertainty over his future by confirming his resignation on Monday morning.

"Yes, it is true that I've resigned as the coach of Baroka FC. I don't want to comment much, but I felt that it was time to go and I left," Nyirenda told IOL.

"I don't know where I'm heading to at this pointing time, but I can confirm that I'm available for anyone.

"I really enjoyed my time here at Baroka FC. I'm grateful for the opportunity their gave me but it was time for me to leave the club."

Having taken the reins at Bakgaga at the beginning of the 2018/19 season, Nyirenda worked miracles as he guided the Limpopo-based club to an unprecedented Telkom Knockout crown while securing a 14th-place finish in the Absa Premiership.
