Nyirenda hails display as Baroka stun Chiefs

Cape Town - Baroka FC coach Wedson Nyirenda was full of praise for his side's display in the 1-0 victory over Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.

Bakgaga moved in to to 13th place above Free State Stars and Chippa United with the win which came courtesy of a stunning Tsidisho Patjie curling free-kick in the 65th minute.

And Nyirenda could not hide his delight after the full-time whistle.

"What a wonderful game we had today," the former Kaizer Chiefs striker told Supersport.

"I cannot ask for more than this from the players. We were playing against an organised and structured team coached by great men, Mr Bartlett and Mr Middendorp. I said towards the end of the week ever since they came in, Chiefs have been a different team. I'm so proud of the boys."

Baroka play league leaders Sundowns next weekend at Peter Mokaba Stadium and Nyirenda simply wants his side to get over the euphoria as quickly as possible and begin preparing for the clash with the Brazilians, who will be high on confidence following their 5-0 dismantling of 'team of the century' Al Ahly in a CAF Champions League quarter-final first-leg tie at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.

"We just have to take it a game at a time," said the Bakgaga boss.

"If we can beat Chiefs at home at FNB Stadium, we can do well at home against Sundowns. We drew with them at their own home.

"But this time it will be a very different ball game. They are chasing the championship and haven't yet won a trophy this season so they will be coming for us. We just have to put this game away and prepare for the next game."
