Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town edged out Polokwane City 2-0 at the Cape Town Stadium on Friday night for their first league win of the season.
Ajax had the better of the first-half exchanges but found visiting keeper George Chigova in inspired form.
'Rise and Shine' had some chances in the second- half, but Ajax were able to sneak a goal before grabbing a late second.
Chigova did superbly to keep out Innocent Nemukondeni's seventh minute effort before bravely diving at the feet of Prince Nxumalo seven minutes later.
Nemukondeni was again denied by Chigova on the half hour mark when was about to score from close range as the Cape side continued to dominate proceedings on a cold and wet night.
Rise and Shine were able to make a more promising start to the second half, but both Rodney Ramagalela and Jabulani Maluleke fired their shots straight at Ajax keeper Brandon Petersen.
It was to be from a Chigova mistake that the Cape side took the lead, Nxumalo capitalising from close range 20 minutes from time.
There was some backs-to-the-wall defending for the home side before Nxumalo swooped in on a Rodrick Kabwe cross in the final minute of regulation time to make quite sure of the victory.
