Ntshangase future up in air amid lockdown

Midfielder Phumlani Ntshangase is still not sure where he will be playing his football next season as contract talks between him and Maritzburg United have ground to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Ntshangase confirmed to KickOff that he had received a contract offer to remain on loan at Maritzburg from parent club Bidvest Wits for next season but that he had to return the paperwork due to not being able to meet with their bosses due to lockdown restrictions.

"I have been enjoying my stay at Maritzburg United. They are a good team and the spirit is great at the club," Ntshangase said.

"They are a small club but when you get inside you learn that they are a great team. They have treated me well since my first day at training.

"This was my first time to play professional football outside Gauteng but I adjusted very well with the help of the technical team and my teammates.

"Yes, they [Maritzburg] made an offer and I returned the proposal to them because with football activities suspended we haven't had a chance to talk.

"Hopefully when we go back we will get a chance and talk."

The 25-year-old has not received any offers from parent club Wits with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.

"Wits have not said anything," he adds. "At the moment I have not signed a pre-contract with anyone."
