Norodien not putting pressure on himself

Cape Town - Riyaad Norodien says he is willing to work hard for Orlando Pirates, but admits to not putting too much pressure on himself in terms of cementing a starting berth.

Speaking to Sowetan Live, the former Ajax Cape Town midfielder said that he is willing to learn from the more experienced Buccaneers and also pointed out the significance of competition coming from wingers Thabo Rakhale and Thabo Qalinge.

"I am willing to work hard and learn from guys like Oupa Manyisa. In Cape Town, I was playing regularly at age 21 and it became easier ,because I knew I would play," he said.

"But now I know I am competing against guys like [Thabo] Qalinge and [Thabo] Rakhale and it won't be easy."

Having moved to the Mayfair-based outfit along with fellow Ikamva graduate Abbubaker Mobara, Norodien stated that he would be happy to contribute to his teams success with a 'vital goal or assist,' whilst also stating his desire to clinch more silverware - following his MTN8 Cup triumph with Ajax last season.

"Knowing that this is my first season, I am not putting too much pressure to say I have to start every match," he added.

"If I can maybe come on and help the team get a vital goal or get an assist, then I will be happy. As a footballer, you should always want to learn. I can't wait to see how far I can go with my career.

"It will be great to clinch the league title on the team's 80th anniversary. We have a coach [Muhsin Ertugral] who likes winning things and I also don't like to lose. I think we can win a lot of things together."
