Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs are unlikely to make any more signings during the January transfer window, coach Ernst Middendorp has said.
Amakhosi have made only one signing this January - Kenyan midfielder Anthony Akumu arrived as a direct replacement for James Kotei.
The club has also released two other players, Kabelo Mahlasela and Lorenzo Gordinho.
"We've had a few players leave, Kabelo (Mahlasela) to Polokwane City and Lorenzo (Gordinho) to Bidvest Wits, and with James Kotei we needed the (foreign) space," Middendorp told the media.
"It probably would have worked (with Kotei) if we gave him more time, which we didn't have.
"Anthony Akumu is working already but will take a little bit of time. I have said it before, I don’t think there are players on the market at the moment that will give us the punch we are looking for.
"I don't believe players will come to the squad in this transfer period as an addition. We have one or two players more that have been part of the playing squad.
"We have a clear agreement inside the club to treat them professionally and normally. We have set priorities in different areas."
Wits signed Gordinho permanently, while Mahlasela is on loan at Polokwane City, although he is unlikely to return to Amakhosi since his current contract expires in June.
