Cape Town - Free State Stars goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni has hinted at frustrations he may have faced earlier in his career while in the colours of both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 27-year-old spent three years at Naturena at the start of his career before spending another three seasons at Chloorkop.
However, during that six-year period he made just three league appearances for both clubs. The former South Africa U20 keeper has had a long wait but appears to have finally broken through with Ea Lla Koto.
In addition, the 2016/17 campaign marks the first time Ngobeni has reached double-digit figures when it comes to appearances in SA's top flight.
The Katlehong-born star's recent rise to prominence was further highlighted when he was named Man of the Match during Stars' 1-0 loss to Orlando Pirates on Saturday.
After the encounter, the player hinted at some of the frustrations he has faced to get where he is today.
He told reporters: "I've been waiting for an opportunity my entire career so I'm grateful and motivated by the chance (to be the starter for the Bethlehem-based club)."
