Ngezana, Parker on target in Chiefs victory over 'Downs

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs earned something of a surprise 2-1 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in their Premiership clash at Loftus Versfeld on Tuesday.

Bernard Parker was given a golden chance in the sixth minute after a loose ball fell in his path towards the box, but his shot went wide.

Parker was close to opening the scoring in the 26th minute following a counter, hitting the crossbar with a powerful right-footed shot from just outside the area.

The clash opened up just after 30 minutes but neither team was clinical enough to take the advantage.

Nonetheless, Siyabonga Ngezana broke the deadlock for Chiefs five minutes after the interval with looping header at the far post on debut.

Parker indeed made it 2-0 in the 71st minute after connecting with a superb Hendrick Ekstein pass to finish with precision in the corner.

Soon after, the Brazilians were reduced to 10 men after Tiyani Mabunda saw his second yellow card.

Sundowns pulled a goal back in the 80th minute after Mathoho brought down Tau in the box, and Zwane scored from the spot, but the Glamour Boys held on for the three points.
