Cape Town - New Orlando Pirates defender Caio Marcelo is enjoying life with the Buccaneers, but has admitted that it will take some time to fully adapt.

Marcelo was signed from Nova Iguacu after being spotted on the Sea Robbers' Project X tour of Brazil and impressing on trial during pre-season.

"I am settling in very nicely at the Club. My team-mates and the technical staff have been very accommodating and welcoming ever since I've arrived," he told the Bucs' official website through an interpreter.

However, perhaps unsurprisingly, the 20-year-old does not feel as if he has fully got the grip of life in South Africa.

"This is the first time playing outside of Brazil, therefore I don't expect an easy ride. I still have to get used to my surroundings, get to understand my teammates and a new style of play. All this takes time so I'm not in a hurry as there's still a lot to learn," he revealed.

Pirates have got their season off to a mixed start, picking up seven points from their first five Premiership games and losing to Matsatsantsa in the MTN8 quarter-finals on penalties.

They will have their chance to avenge that defeat when they face Matsatsantsa in the league on September 15.
