Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Tinashe Nengomasha believes the club need to make some improved additions to the squad if they are to challenge for trophies in future.
Speaking to KickOff website, Nengomasha said: "Sometimes you need to look for the right brand of players, which can win you trophies. You can bring any coach, but at the end of the day if you don't have the right ingredients for the coach to use, you won't be able to win anything.
"They brought in Ernst to make and probably he can make something of the material they have right now to salvage the Nedbank Cup. Going in future they need to get the right players to help them win trophies.
"It was happening with Sundowns. There was a time when they were not having the right players, but in came Pitso [Mosimane] and he managed to change everything.
"He got proper players and he was loaning out some of the players from the academy. Percy Tau was sent to Witbank Spurs before coming back to Sundowns and he left for Europe.
"Those are some of the things they [Chiefs] need to look into. You can change coaches left, right and centre, but if you don't have the right players then you won't win anything."
Currently, the Glamour Boys are only left with the Nedbank Cup to play for in 2018/19 as it appears they are out of the Premiership title race.
The Soweto giants are set to play ABC Motsepe side The Magic FC in a last-16 tie at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
KickOff is 15:00.
