Cape Town - Cape Town-born midfielder Morne Nel has returned home after swapping SuperSport United for Ajax Cape Town on a loan deal.
"Ajax Cape Town and SuperSport United have agreed that it is in the best interest of the player to return home to Cape Town‚ with the Urban Warriors to rehabilitate the burly playmaker at our Ikamva base," the Urban Warriors confirmed Nel's arrival in a statement.
"Nel joins Ajax Cape Town on loan until the end of the year‚ after which the Urban Warriors hold the option to make the move permanent."
Nel will provide the Cape side with more depth in central midfield, where they look a bit short due to the expected departure of club captain Travis Graham.
Graham wants to leave the team and trained with the Reserves during pre-season. He was not in the squad for the opening game of the season, a 1-1 home draw with Golden Arrows on Saturday.
The 21-year-old Nel, however, must reportedly undergo a groin operation before he can make his Ajax debut.
The international is an Old Mutual academy product and previously had trials with Tottenham Hotspur in England and Portuguese top-flight club Vitoria Guimaraes.
