Mthembu wants to make history with CT City

Cape Town - Cape Town City striker Siphelele Mthembu says he will do whatever it takes to become a success for the Citizens in 2018/19.

The powerful forward started his first match for the club during last Saturday's 2-0 victory over SuperSport United, and made an impact before being taken off for Matthew Rusike.

The 30-year-old arrived from Free State Stars in the off-season as City became the seventh team he has joined during his nine years in the Premiership.

Despite having something of a journeyman career and not possessing a prolific goal return, the player takes the view that he has a major opportunity to shine in the Mother City.

Speaking to Kickoff, he said: "I'm a hard worker, I push a lot and am very dedicated in what I do.

"For me, it's not about proving to people how good I am, but it's about helping the team I play for. Now I'm looking forward to making history with a good team.

"I take my past as a positive, something that will push me to say, 'If they say something, let them say that'. Personally, I'm just there in my zone, focused and remaining positive about life."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
