Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns forward Katlego Mphela believes Amakhosi are in danger of losing out in the title race unless they can regain their consistency.
Chiefs were in imperious form for the majority of the season and looked certain to win the Premiership title going in to 2020.
However, a dip in form since February has allowed Mamelodi Sundowns to get back into the race for the title.
The last time the Glamour Boys won two games in a row was back in early January, while Sundowns have won their last four league fixtures in a row.
What once seemed like an insurmountable gap between the two sides has been reduced to just four points and the Brazilians have a game in hand, effectively meaning the gap could be as little as a solitary point if they win their extra fixture.
All this has been piling pressure on the pacesetters, which in turn could be creating more pressure that will affect their form negatively.
"I think Chiefs started well, they made sure they took points when they could and Sundowns always had games in hand," Mphela said, according to KickOff.
"The experience of the [Sundowns] coach and players, they are going to fight this until the end but I think it's still in Chiefs' hands.
"It's up to them to lose it, they are in control of the situation.
"They just need to be consistent and if they can do that, they can win the league. If they keep on dropping points, Sundowns will capitalise on that and win it."
