Johannesburg - Royal Eagles striker Katlego Mphela has revealed that he was not forced to join the National First Division (NFD) outfit due to the circumstances surrounding him at the end of last season, but instead did so of his own accord after been released by Kaizer Chiefs.
The former Bafana Bafana goal poacher chose the Eagles due to their exciting ambitions and excellent management structure.
“I chose to play for Royal Eagles by myself; I was not forced by the circumstances,” revealed Mphela.
“Because when I met the club chairman he told me about the club ambitions and it was so exciting to hear that.
“And then I told myself that let me give it a try and see if we can get a promotion to the PSL.
“The team is exciting and I’m really enjoying myself here, we stand a good chance of getting a promotion because if you look at our log position, we are now trailing the log leaders by only six points, so it shows that we are doing very good work.
“We also have good training facilities, quality players, good management and technical team and all looks bright for us.”
Royal Eagles are currently occupying the 5th spot on the log after 12 games played.
They will face African Warriors in their next assignment at the Charles Mopeli stadium on December 19.
