Mphahlele: Winning Chiefs' only option

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs' strong right-back Ramahlwe Mphahlele believes that beating Bloemfontein Celtic in Sunday's Premiership clash is crucial, as Amakhosi target a season of success.

The Glamour Boys suffered a poor start to 2017/18 when they bowed out in the MTN8 quarter-finals after a 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United, despite dominating much of that contest.

Nonetheless, Mphahlele insists that this disappointment must be forgotten as the club set out to begin the new league season on a winning note. He told the club's official website, "We know now what we need to do better. It's no use to cry over spilt milk. It's actually quite straightforward, we have to put the ball into the back of the net."

"We can't afford the same start as last season, when we lost to Bidvest Wits. The premiership starts and we are going to fight for the championship, whatever it takes. We can't afford to lose. Winning is the only option!"

Sunday's game against Celtic will take place at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein. The action is set to get underway from 15:00 at that venue.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
