Cape Town - Chippa United boss Chippa Mpengesi says he will never hire an experienced coach like Ernst Middendorp again, as he prefers to bring in younger ones who show potential and an open mind.
Currently, Teboho Moloi is in charge after he took over from the sacked Dan Malesela, and he has enjoyed a positive start to life with the Chilli Boys.
As such, Mpengesi explained that hiring experienced coaches who want to do things their own way is not his preference, and he will never do so again.
He told Sowetan Live: "We need to have faith in our former players and young coaches who have potential. We would not have coaches like Pitso Mosimane today if they were not given opportunities.
"That was the biggest mistake to hire a coach like him (Ernst Middendorp in 2015). We were almost relegated.
"They (experienced coaches) want to run clubs by themselves. They don't respect people like us who don't have football background. I do not think at Chippa I will ever have one of those. I want to build my own coaches.
"Roger Sikhakhane (from 2014 to 2015) did not even have coaching qualifications, but I gave him a chance.
"Dan Malesela was never recognised and had never worked at any top-flight club before. I saw something in him, now he is counted among top coaches.
"Who knew that Teboho Moloi would be a coach? He was an assistant [coach] for many years. In fact, when I got him he was even unemployed."
