Moyo saddened by Maritzburg loss

Pietermaritzburg - Maritzburg United defender Blessing Moyo has expressed his sadness following their Telkom Knockout Last 16 loss to Kaizer Chiefs at the weekend.

Despite dominating possession throughout the game, the Team of Choice were eliminated from the Ziwa Mo competition after a 4-2 loss on penalties after a goalless stalemate at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The young Zimbabwean international hinted that it was just unfortunate for the KwaZulu-Natal-based side to walk away empty-handed considering a magnitude of chances created.

“It was just unfortunate for us to miss all our chances created on the day,” lamented Moyo.

“But we managed to play as a team and we really fought hard until the end of the game.

“It just happens in the game of football to lose on penalties because it’s all about luck when it comes to penalty shoot-outs.

“But we just have to move on with our heads up and focus on the next league game, we lost in the cup it is fine but we felt sad about it.”

The Team of Choice will now switch their focus back to the Absa Premiership when they face Golden Arrows at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday.

Kick-off is at 20:00.
