Motupa gunning for PSL top scorer award

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits midfielder Gift Motupa feels he has what it takes to end the season as the league's top scorer.

Motupa has so far scored nine goals in the current campaign and is just three behind the PSL's leading marksman, Mwape Musonda of Black Leopards.

The Clever Boys still have six games remaining and Motupa believes he has a genuine opportunity to be the top marksman at the end of the season.

In quotes published on Kickoff, Motupa said: "Yes, looking at the remaining games I feel there is still an opportunity [to finish as top scorer].

"I just need to work hard and be consistent."

Wits, who are third in the league table, were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by Chippa United last weekend but have a crunch PSL fixture to look forward to as they take on Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

The Students and the Buccaneers are both three points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Kick-off is at 15:00.
