Motaung: Youth are the future

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs chairperson Kaizer Motaung revealed his pride at the club's ability to produce top talent from the development ranks, citing Siphiwe Tshabalala and Itumeleng Khune as illustrious examples.

Despite some struggles in the first team in the last three seasons in terms of not winning trophies, the Glamour Boys have reaped rich rewards when it comes to giving young players a chance.

In recent times the likes of Wiseman Meyiwa, Siyabonga Ngezana, Bruce Bvuma, Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya and Emmanuel Letlotlo have broken through into the first team and winning the MultiChoice Diski Shield has also boosted confidence.

"At Chiefs, youth are our focal point. For example, the journey to develop our youth academy is ongoing," Motaung told the club's official website.

"We have already seen the fruits with players coming through and gaining promotion to the first team.

"Also, we have started recording milestones with our youth teams, like the reserve team winning the inaugural MultiChoice Diski Shield.

"We bring most of the players at a young age and develop into superstars. Most recently, Itumeleng Khune and Siphiwe Tshabalala are illustrious examples of excellence.

"However, we have come a long way and we will continue in this journey of creating and enabling an environment for talent to mushroom at (the) Chiefs Village."
