Motale hopes Pirates' new strip ignites trophy rush

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates legend Edward 'Magents' Motale is hopeful the club's new strip for the 2019/20 campaign can inspire the side to win a trophy.

Pirates unveiled their new kit for the season this week and it includes a white home jersey with black trim.

It is a similar look to the strip that Pirates used in 1995 when they won the CAF Champions League with Motale playing an important role.

He told reporters: "This jersey is beautiful. It will bring that spark. If you put it on, you feel strong.

"I have high hopes that the team will win many trophies with this jersey.

"This is a winning jersey, we want no excuses this season. We are tired of being runners-up. We are going for the kill. The cabinet is empty and the boys [players] know what must be done this season."

The Sea Robbers have gone five seasons without winning a trophy and are under some significant pressure to improve their fortunes in the upcoming campaign.

Kaizer Chiefs have also released their new kit for the season with the club saying in a statement:

"Bolder than ever, the Kaizer Chiefs 2019/20 home jersey is nothing short of confident. The striking new home jersey is an instant classic and features a distinctive and energetic pattern."

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns have also released their kit for the upcoming campaign as well.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
