Mosimane won't dwell on Cup defeat

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has shrugged off his side's defeat to Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup urging his side to maintain their focus on the league and CAF Confederation Cup.

Mosimane's men were dumped out of the quarter-final stage of the Nedbank Cup after suffering a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Buccaneers in extra-time.

Tendai Ndoro and Mpho Makola scored late on end Sundowns hopes of adding the Nedbank Cup trophy to their cabinet, but Mosimane insists he is more concerned by his side's league title aspirations, as well as their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

"We have to concentrate on the league; we have to concentrate on CAF. It's not a funeral," Mosimane said after the match.

"We have two [cups left to fight for]. Let the other guys go with the Nedbank Cup - they deserve it; they work hard for it.

"We focus on CAF; we focus on the league. It's not easy but it's normal in football that these things happen.

"You see Barca lose three games in a row. It happens to us, it's normal."

Reflecting on the performance of his side on the night, he added: "You don't win the game on possession and chances - you win the game by putting the ball in the net, and it doesn't matter how many chances you create; that's not how it works in football.

"We lost a bit of discipline in the midfield by playing diagonal balls, difficult balls - I told them to keep it simple, and to keep it going."
