Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane hopes in-form goalkeeper Denis Onyango will be available for selection ahead of their CAF Champions League tie against AS Vita on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old shot-stopper suffered a suspected muscle tear during his side's 3-1 league win over Polokwane City last week, forcing him to be stretchered off the pitch in the 84th minute of the match.
The Brazilians welcome the Democratic Republic of Congo champions Vita to the Lucas Moripe Stadium for the return leg of their second round qualifying Champions League clash looking to overturn a 1-0 first-leg defeat they suffered in Kinshasa earlier this month.
Having initially feared a muscle tear, subsequent scans have revealed that Onyango's iunjury is not as bad as first feared, meaning he could return to action for Downs' crucial midweek cup clash.
"He doesn’t have muscle tear - its tight, but the scans say he is okay," said Mosimane.
"I hope he [Onyango] comes back on Wednesday because it’s another competition - a difficult one, and we have to score."
Onyango has claimed the number one jersey at the Pretoria-based club, making over 23 Premiership appearances in all competitions so far this season.
