Mosimane hails Sundowns character

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane praised the temperament of his team after they secured a vital 2-0 victory over Bidvest Wits at Loftus Versfeld.

Mosimane lauded the league clash as a 'Champions League' standard fixture, given the strength of the two title-chasing clubs, and he also lavished praise on Downs' defensive display against the set-pieces of the Students.

Hlompho Kekana and former Clever Boys playmaker Sibusiso Vilakazi scored goals at the ends of each half for Masandawana to move into fifth place, three points behind leaders SuperSport United - with four games in hand.

"You can see two giants on the pitch, two big teams, big temperament of the game," Mosimane said after the game. "The opponents are professional enough to play the way they played and we were professional also to play the way we played.

"We have the experience to play this game. You can't go to Kumasi, we can't go to Dolisie, we can't go to Egypt, we can't go to Accra, we can't go to all those places and you are not having the temperament to play this game.

"This is Champions League material, this is a Champions League (level) game and we played it the way it was supposed to and it was appropriate.

"We tried to match them on their strengths, 80% of the goals they scored in their last 12 games was on set-pieces and we managed (to contain) that."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
