Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has backed Doctor Khumalo to succeed in his role as Baroka FC caretaker coach.
Khumalo was recently tasked with the responsibility of helping Baroka avoid the relegation play-offs, replacing MacDonald Makhubedu, who has been moved to the position of technical advisor.
Mosimane feels Khumalo’s experience in South African football, where he has held different roles at Kaizer Chiefs, will help him overcome the task at hand with Baroka.
The former Bafana Bafana midfielder has a mammoth task in his next game, where Bakgaka need at least a point against Supersport United to secure Premiership football for another season.
Khumalo left his boyhood club Kaizer Chiefs at the start of the season to take over as the technical director at Bakgaka.
He has previously worked as the assistant coach at Kaizer Chiefs, where he also had a long career as a player.
Mosimane told the SABC: “Doc has the experience, knows the game and has been there.
“So it’s good that he came up. He got a draw in his first game (2-2 against Bloemfontein Celtic) if I’m not mistaken.”
