Mosimane cautious ahead of Leopards showdown

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says he would be happy to settle for a 0-0 draw in Saturday's CAF Champions League showdown with Congo side AC Leopards.

The Brazilians dominated the Congo team in last week's first round, first leg encounter at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

But they were only able to score two goals, which means that the tie is by no means over as Downs head into this Saturday's return game at the Denis Sassou Nguiesso Stadium in Dolisie, Congo Brazzaville.

Mosimane has concerns that the state of the pitch may not allow the South African team to implement their usual brand of quick-passing, carpet football, and says that if needs be, he'll be content for his side to play to a goal-less draw.

"In Congo, we won't be able to build up because of the pitch. We need to play our normal game, but only if the pitch allows us," he told The Sowetan.

"If the pitch doesn't allow us, then we got to do what we have to do. I remember when I was with Bafana Bafana, we went to Sierra Leone and you know what we did?

"We took 0-0 and we went home because the pitch didn't allow us to play our normal game. We have an advantage in Congo."

That said, the former Bafana Bafana coach is still hoping to net an away goal that would mean the hosts have to score four times to go through.

"We have to be a little cautious, but we have to score. So the approach must not be to sit back and park the bus," he said.
