Morris thrilled with Olympics inclusion

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town striker Tashreeq Morris has expressed excitement at his inclusion in the South Africa Under-23 squad for the 2016 Olympics.

The 22-year-old, who was the Urban Warriors' top scorer last season with nine goals, stated he was positive about receiving a call-up following his previous absences from Owen Da Gama's squad.

"I have always remained optimistic and never lost hope that it [call-up] would come," Morris told Goal.com website.

"I strongly believe that the hard work and effort you put in would never go unnoticed."

The 2015 Nedbank Cup Young Player of the Tournament said he is grateful for the opportunity and highlighted that the magnitude of the international sporting event, which could take his career to the next level - based on his performances in Rio De Janeiro.

"It is a great feeling to be here with the team and it is overwhelming," he added. "I am reveled to be here and I am grateful for this opportunity and I can't thank the almighty enough because this will give a platform for even greater things.

"I never and I won't question where ever he coach plays me because that means he sees in me something that would benefit the team better.

"But my preferred position is a striker, the number-nine role. But anywhere I play, I will do the job to the best of my ability."
