Cape Town - Wits midfielder Thabang Monare says he is delighted with Wednesday's 1-0 victory over Orlando Pirates though he hopes the Clever Boys stay grounded.
The Students collected a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Sea Robbers courtesy of an own goal from Gladwin Shitolo, following fine work from Haashim Domingo down the right-hand side.
It was Wits' third straight PSL win in 2018/19 and means the Gavin Hunt-coached outfit now move to the top of the league.
Nonetheless, Monare was named Man of the Match for his performance at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.
Speaking to SuperSport, the 28-year-old said: "The modern game requires a lot of hard work. At the end of the day you have to do what you have to do for the team.
"The boys showed great character tonight, we worked hard as a team. We were united, we defended very well I think. Credit to the boys, we gave it our all tonight.
"We just apply what the coach tells us. We've been working on it during the pre-season and during our friendlies so it's working now.
"We need to keep on working hard. We need to be grounded and understand that it's too early to get ahead of ourselves."
