Mokwena: Pirates fans should be proud of these players

Cape Town - Interim coach Rulani Mokwena says there were a lot more positives than negatives after Orlando Pirates were held to a goalless draw by AmaZulu at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Tuesday.

It was a match of two halves as the Buccaneers dominated the early stages of the game but failed to convert a number of early chances.

AmaZulu then came back into the game after the break with both teams having to settle for a share of the spoils after failing to hit the back of the net.

"I thought we played with a lot more balance and tactical discipline today," Mokwena said. "A point away from home is positive and a clean sheet which is important because we've been conceding far too many goals.

"So there's a lot more positives than negatives.

"We can be proud of these players, Orlando Pirates is not just rich in terms of the quality of these players but also the character and the amount of fight that they put in.

"Also that never say die attitude, it's unbelievable and you can't fault the effort I'm so proud of these players and the Buccaneers must be so proud especially when it's so easy to give up."

Pirates next host Green Eagles at the Orlando Stadium in a CAF Champions League Preliminary round second-leg clash where they will aim to overturn a 1-0 deficit.

Kick-off is at 20:15.
