Cape Town - SuperSport United midfielder, Teboho Mokoena took home the Absa Premiership Goal of the Month award for February - making it two in a row having won the same award back in January 2019.
Since the inception of the monthly individual award two seasons ago, Mokoena is the first player to win it back-to-back.
Mokoena, who is part of the SA U23 and Bafana Bafana set up, scored a stunning long-range drive towards the dying minutes of their Absa Premiership match against Lamontville Golden Arrows.
It was a fitting winning goal in his club’s 3-2 away win, much to his team-mates’ delight on the day.
Mokoena’s goal topped the shortlist of 10 great goals with the most votes after football supporters and the public picked their favourite for February via the Premier Soccer League (PSL) website.
Mokoena’s goal was nominated among other great strikes by Kermit Erasmus, whose goal came second in votes behind Mokoena, Anthony Laffor, Gift Links, Matome Mabeba, Thato Madigoe, Ben Motshwari, Walter Musona, Tapelo Nyongo and Harris Tchilimbou.
Football supporters are encouraged to continue voting for their Absa Premiership Goal of the Month award by visiting the PSL website.
The winning monthly goal will be selected from the online votes cast by supporters who will pick their favourite goal. The February fan winner was Ntsoaki Mokoena, from Bethlehem.
Voting for the Goal of the Month for March opened on Monday, April 1 on the PSL website and will close at midnight on Tuesday, April 30. Football supporters can go to www.psl.co.za and cast their votes.
All the shortlisted goals are available on the PSL website for public voting. Each Absa Premiership Goal of the month will be on the list of goals that fans can vote for as the Absa-lutely Awesome Goal of the Season at the PSL awards in May.
